vStyle Interview
#4 ?¿?

In this article, I am introducing an absolute stunning creator from South Korea, called You! You-san’s enchanting photography and captivating texturing skills are simply remarkable. (Check out her twitter account from here: https://x.com/suik_you)

Who is she, and what fuels her creative process, and where does the aesthetics come from? There were so many questions that came to mind, so I decided to ask an interview with her. What emerged from the interview was a picture of a bright, imaginative individual whose creativity knows no bounds.

We made an appointment to meet atop a space shuttle launched high into a sky filled with fireworks and shooting stars. I was waiting for her with an excitement and a bit nervous mind. Meanwhile, down on Earth, the autumn breeze probably signals the season for moon-viewing. This is a world that sparks the imaginaries like this.

Among her influencer posts, her unique aesthetic shines through with its soft, transparent hues and a subtle depth that hints at something darker beneath. Her favorite look is one that complements this otherworldly aesthetic—a delicate, slightly transparent lens color that reveals hidden depths.

I asked where this fantastical inspiration came from, expecting perhaps a touch of romance or fantasy. But her answer was surprising: “War films are a big source of inspiration for me,” she said. You-san’s work draws from the atmosphere and styling found in war films. Given her ethereal aesthetic, this answer was unexpected.

Why War Films?

She explained that she’s drawn to the dark color palettes often seen in war films, which have greatly influenced her style. This color tone, carrying hints of shadow, aligns with the underlying darkness that permeates her aesthetic sensibility.

One film that she cited as particularly influential to her was Constantine. This is a American horror film released in 2005. In the film; detective Angela approaches Constantine, a demon hunter, to help her investigate her twin sister's mysterious death. As he digs deeper, he realizes that demons are trying to enter the human world.

Her Creation Philosophy

Although her creations would match her own style perfectly, she prefers not to use them herself—a policy she stands by firmly. Once a piece has been created and sold as a product, she refrains from using it personally. This self-imposed boundary lends her a dignified air that perfectly complements the impression she exudes.

You-san’s style centers on the color of white. Her style is consistently unified in terms of colour scheme, white clothes, items, and body parts. This choice reflects her experience and her style of behaviour in VRChat, where she enjoys meeting and chatting with new people, often in public worlds. As is known among VRChat users, public worlds can sometimes be a bit unruly, with users engaging in rough interactions.

So, to make communication smoother and give off a gentle impression, she dresses in white before venturing into the public VRChat worlds. This makes it easier to approach strangers, giving a kind and soft impression to others.

Angel Wings and Symbolism

One of her most eye-catching pieces is her angel wings. This is where her love for war films comes full circle, actually. “The interest in war led me to themes of religion and, ultimately, mythological aesthetics such as angels,” she shared, mentioning a few specific movies as inspiration.
